Planning a wedding can be so exciting and yet overwhelming all at once. I am here to help!
#1. GETTING STARTED
Determine your ceremony location, date and time of your ceremony. Then call, text or email me to confirm my availability. Once you have decided that I am the right fit for your wedding day, I will require a $100 non-refundable deposit to reserve the date.
#2. Ceremony Planning Meeting
For those couples who choose the Your Ceremony Your Way Package, we will get together for a Ceremony Planning Meeting, usually about six (6) weeks before the wedding. I will learn about you as a couple and discover your love story. We will talk through the different parts of the ceremony and discuss the options that are available.
Couples who choose the Short & Sweet Package will have a consultation with me over the phone or virtually. I will gather some information and together we will discuss your ceremony options.
#3. CHoosing Your Ceremony elements
Using my ceremony planning tools, you will be able to choose what is meaningful and personal to you and will be able to see how the ceremony is unfolding step by step.
#4. CREATING THE CEREMONY
Back at my office, I'll spend time writing and arranging the ceremony, based on your choices, making certain that every word captures the ceremony you are envisioning.
#5. confirming the details
We will connect a final time to review your ceremony content and confirm the details, about two (2) weeks before the wedding. Your final balance is due thirty (30) days before your wedding date.
#6. THE DAY OF THE EVENT
When the day arrives, I will arrive early to the ceremony and make sure everything is in place and ready to go. I will officiate a beautiful and heartfelt ceremony that will be a meaningful experience for all who are in attendance.
Your wedding officiant is the only part of the wedding day you must have in order to make it a legal marriage. No other service provider is a must. I recommend that as soon as you have your venue booked, book me.
Can we write our own vows?
Yes. If you do write them, I will ask you to read them to each other.
CAN WE HAVE A FRIEND CONDUCT OUR WEDDING CEREMONY?
Yes - I will always support couples who wish to have a friend conduct a symbolic wedding ceremony while I attend the ceremony and deal with the legalities. A copy of the ceremony will have to be provided to me in advance.
What will you wear?
As your officiant, I will be dressed in professional business attire, staying away from bright patterns that would be a distraction in your wedding photos.
Do you have a backup option in case you can't make it?
Yes. I am part of a larger group of Officiants connected through Ontario Association of Professional Wedding Officiants (OAPWO) and can make arrangements should a last minute emergency occur.
Do i need A rehearsal?
Rehearsals are recommended to ensure everything runs smoothly on your special day. It is the perfect opportunity to ask any questions that you may have and help everyone in the bridal party feel comfortable. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about a rehearsal.
Where can my wedding ceremony take place?
Your wedding ceremony can be held just about anywhere you can think of (your backyard, a golf course, a winery, a restaurant, or even your living room).
Can we put a date on hold until we decide for sure?
Unfortunately I am not able to put any dates on hold until the deposit fee is received. Should you book my officiant services for a specific date and need to change the date at a later time, the deposit fee can be applied to the new date, subject to my availability.
What if our ceremony starts late?
When you book my services, you will schedule me for the start of the ceremony (not the time the guests arrive). The ceremony must start on time or within 30 minutes of this scheduled time. If your ceremony begins later, it is possible that your ceremony will be shortened or even cancelled if I have another event booked. At the very least, an additional late fee will be due.
How long will the ceremony be?
A typical wedding ceremony will be approximately 30 minutes but it can vary depending on the components you choose. It is very possible to keep your ceremony short and sweet, and also to have a ceremony that is longer.
What time will you arrive at the wedding venue?
I will arrive at the wedding venue approximately 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony to make sure that everything is in place and connect with anyone playing a technical role (wedding coordinator, photographer, DJ, musicians, etc).
A wedding can be cancelled at anytime. In the case of a cancellation I will need in writing a notice from the bride and or groom that the wedding is actually cancelled. I cannot accept the word of any other family member or friend.
If written notice is provided at least thirty (30) days prior to the ceremony date, all fees paid in excess of the deposit will be refunded. If notice is provided less than thirty (30) days prior to the ceremony date, the couple will be responsible for full payment of services, except for travel fees, if applicable.
is there anything we need to do after the wedding?
Once your wedding ceremony is complete, I will place the Record of Solemnization (tear off portion) from the Marriage Licence into a white envelope. This is your portion to keep.
I will mail the rest of the Marriage Licence to the Registrar General's Office where your marriage will be registered. You will not receive any notice or any paperwork from the government confirming the registration.
You must order your own Certificate of Marriage as one is not automatically mailed by the Registrar General's Office.
