Frequently Asked Questions
1. How soon should we book an officiant?
Your wedding officiant is the only part of the wedding day you must have in order to make it a legal marriage. No other service provider is a must. As soon as you have your venue booked, book Rebecca.
2. What areas do you serve?
All of the Niagara Region as well as Hamilton and Burlington.
3. Can we write our own vows?
You are welcome to write your own vows and read them to each other during the ceremony. Rebecca also has a beautiful selection of vows that you may choose from and even personalize.
4. Should we have a rehearsal?
A rehearsal is highly recommended for all ceremonies except an elopement ceremony. Rebecca will direct your rehearsal, putting everyone at ease and helping to ensure everything will run smoothly on your wedding day. A rehearsal does not have to be held at the same location as the ceremony, and only takes about 45 minutes.
5. How and when do I pay?
A deposit of $100.00 is required to reserve the date (non-refundable). The remaining balance is due 30 days before the wedding. E-transfers, cheques or cash are accepted forms of payment.
6. What will you wear when you officiate my wedding?
On your wedding day, Rebecca will be dressed in professional business attire, staying away from bright patterns that would be a distraction in your wedding photos.
7. What paperwork is required by the province of Ontario?
In order for your wedding to be legal, you must get a marriage license from your local city hall before your wedding day and it must be present at the wedding ceremony.
Once your wedding ceremony is complete, Rebecca will mail your Marriage License to the Registrar General's Office where your marriage will be registered. You will not receive any notice or paperwork from the government confirming the registration.
Approximately 12 weeks after your wedding, you can order a Certificate of Marriage (one is not automatically mailed by the Registrar General's Office). A Certificate of Marriage will provide proof of your marriage for any legal requirements and will allow you to change your last name.
