About Me

I was inspired to become a Funeral Celebrant after my Grandpa passed away.

The officiant at his funeral did a wonderful job of writing the ceremony in a way that reflected my Grandpa’s unique life as a cowboy and farmer as well as the quiet way he lived out his faith.

Although I was still sad that he had passed away, the experience I had at his funeral made me feel like his life had been honoured in just the right way.

I had been feeling dissatisfied with my work in the corporate world, but I did not know what I wanted to do. With a little research I discovered a profession where I could truly make a difference - as a Funeral Celebrant.

I worked to receive my certification through the United Kingdom Society of Celebrants - a well-known and respected organization that has years of experience training and providing support for celebrants all over the world.

Now I am connecting with many families all across the Niagara Region and beyond, walking with them in their time of loss and creating beautiful ceremonies that are truly personal, meaningful and memorable.

The Details

Location
I live in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada with my husband and our two sons.

History
I was born and raised and lived in Alberta until about 7 years ago.

Adventure
Then came the big adventure involving two kids, a cat and a u-haul trailer filled with our belongings and a long drive across Canada to our new home in southern Ontario.

Family Time
We enjoy camping together and also love to play music together as a family band.

Career
My experiences in corporate communications and in finance have forced my expressive side and my meticulous side to get along. I have had great success in being efficiently creative.

Music
There is something about music that expresses the heart like nothing else. It has the power to uplift, express deep emotion and to bring people together. I've been privileged to provide the music (vocals and piano) for many worship services, weddings and funerals over the years.

Certification
I am certified through the United Kingdom Society of Celebrants to perform funeral ceremonies of all kinds here in Ontario.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FUNERAL CELEBRANT

Picture
I spend my days listening to stories...

I spend time connecting with families. I learn all about their loved one and discover what made them so unique.

I listen to stories - stories of love and adventure, stories of struggles and triumphs. Stories of friendships and of life.

I make sure that I get a strong sense of who this person really was and what they meant to those around them.

I spend my days writing stories...

Creating a personal and meaningful ceremony takes hours, as I weave together all of the stories and memories with the essence of who your loved one was.

Each word I write is chosen with great care.

I add elements such as poetry and music, creating a one-of-a-kind tribute to their life journey.

I spend my days telling stories...

When the day of the event arrives, I share the life story of your loved one in an authentic and meaningful way.

Every part of the ceremony will reflect your loved one - the life they lived, the people who were important to them, their personality, passions, hobbies and beliefs.

It will truly be a special farewell for that very special person.
